THIS IS ONE OF TWO AUCTIONS FOR A RARE LITHOGRAPH HAND-SIGNED BY ARTIST JOHN LENNON. THIS ONE WAS PART OF A SET OF A PORTFOLIO OF 14 LITHOGRAPHS CREATED IN 1969 BY JOHN LENNON AS A WEDDING GIFT. IT DEPICTS AN EROTIC SCENE OF THEIR HONEYMOON. EACH OF THE 14 LITHOGRAPHS WERE LIMITED TO AN EDITION OF 300. WHEN THE DRAWINGS WERE RELEASED, THEY WERE CONFISCATED BY AUTHORITIES IN SEVERAL COUNTRIES BECAUSE OF THE EROTIC CONTENT OF SOME OF THE DRAWINGS WERE CONSIDERED TO BE OBSCENE. ALTHOUGH THE CHARGES OF OBSCENITY NEVER HELD UP IN COURT, MANY OF THE LITHOGRAPHS WERE DESTROYED BY MISHANDLING. JOHN LENNON WAS DISCOURAGED FROM SHOWING HIS ARTWORK FOR MANY YEARS AFTER. THE SIZE IS 22.75 X 30" HAND-SIGNED BY JOHN LENNON. THIS SERIES OF LITHOGRAPHS ARE THE ONLY ONES HE EVER SIGNED DURING HIS LIFETIME. THESE ARE PART OF WHAT IS CALLED THE "BAG ONE" PORTFOLIO. THESE ARE RARELY AVAILABLE AND HAVE RECENTLY SOLD FOR THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN GALLERIES. THEY WERE ORIGINALLY SOLD FOR 40(BRITISH) POUNDS EACH - OR FOR 550 (BRITISH) POUNDS FOR THE SET OF 14. THESE ARE FOR THE SERIOUS FINE ART COLLECTOR.
Avoid scams by dealing locally
or paying with Paypal, try also
using your credit card as the
option to pay. This way if
Paypal does not or cannot help
you with a dispute, you can
always bypass them and call your
credit card company up directly.
Never use Western Union,
Moneygram or any other anonymous
service to send a payment, the
seller does not always have to
show ID when they pick up the
funds. And if you just realized
you have been scammed, the last
thing you want is not to be able
to identify the person who took
your money.
Don't buy or sell outside of
your country. Most scammers are
usually not in the same country
as you for a good reason. But
the best reason is that they far
away from you, and there's not
much you can do about it.
LiveSimon is never involved in
any transaction, and does not
handle payments, shipping,
guarantee transactions, provide
escrow services, or offer "buyer
protection" or "seller
certification".
Your best defense against fraud
and scams is your knowledge. If
it sounds too good to be true,
it probably is.
Never accept a payment from
someone who is willing to send
you more than what you are
asking for, especially when they
want you to send them the
change.
